Rapid Response & Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA)

Management and Human Resource personnel… Is your company facing a downsizing or closure?
We can assist you and your employees.

Maine's Rapid Response Team is available to assist workers who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own as a result of downsizing or a company closure.
Rapid Response Teams provide statewide, early intervention, no cost reemployment services to companies and their employees affected by layoffs and closures. Mandated and funded, in part by the Workforce Investment Act, our on-site transitional assistance services provide an effective way to help transition workers into new employment.

While you may not be able to change the business conditions that make layoffs necessary, connecting with Maine's Rapid Response Team early in the scheme of downsizing can reduce the cost and pain of having layoffs. In most cases, companies lay off workers in an effort to remain competitive. Often, managers know well ahead of time that the situation will require drastic action. If your company is facing such difficulty, call Maine's Rapid Response Team. We'll help save your company and employees time, money and aggravation.

Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) is available to assist individuals who have become unemployed as a result of increased imports from or shifts in production to foreign countries. The goal of the Trade Act Programs is to help trade-affected workers return to suitable employment as quickly as possible. Employers must file a petition for TAA funds.

Consult Maine's CareerCenters to learn how to take advantage of TAA or e-mail Judy Pelletier at the Maine Bureau of Employment Services or call 207-623-7993.
