AUGUSTA—The Maine Department of Labor has scheduled a session for workers affected by the furlough announcement at Old Town Fuel & Fiber. The Department will work to evaluate what other assistance program, such as Trade, that would be appropriate for affected employees.
“The department’s Rapid Response program assists workers facing job loss due to downsizing or closures,” said Governor Paul R. LePage. “The Rapid Response team is reaching out to help these workers.”
The session will be held on Tuesday, August 19 at 2:00 p.m. at USW Local #80, Union Hall at 354 Main Street in Old Town.
The Department of Labor can advise and assist employers and employees with information about their rights, responsibilities and obligations during a closure or downsizing to safeguard the economic stability of workers and the surrounding community.
