Training Opportunity: Basic Carpentry Program (Workshop)

Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC) is pleased to be offering a newly-developed Basic Carpentry program in the mid-Maine area beginning January 15, 2019. Classes will be held at the KVCC Alfond Campus in Hinckley.

There is a current need in the industry for knowledgeable carpenters to replace existing workers as they age out. This program is designed to provide training in basic carpentry skills and worksite safety to up to 30 qualifying individuals, to prepare them for entry-level positions in the building construction industry.

Participants completing the program will receive a certificate of completion and earn a total of 3 college credits.

The program is available at no cost to eligible Maine residents who are 18 years of age or older. Participants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be unemployed or underemployed, able to lift 50 lbs., and have the ability to climb a ladder.

Participation in this program will be on a first-come first-served basis and is intended for unemployed or underemployed Maine residents.

The Northern Kennebec Valley CareerCenter is available to assist eligible students that are in need of tuition assistance or other support services during this training program. Class Times:

Tuesdays and Thursdays: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Saturdays: 8 a.m. to 12 noon
